We decided to paint
the nursery with a Dr. Seuss theme. All the paint came from Sherwin
Williams; no custom colors, just right off the shelf interior latex.
We settled on Alaska Sea for the walls. The red and white banner
was hand painted with Theater Red and plain white.

This character
came out of One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish. I scanned in
the pictures and printed them out on HP Transparency paper. Our Deskjet
722c has an option for transparency paper, so printing them out was no
problem. Well, one problem, transparency paper is almost $1.00 a
sheet so the 50 page pack cost us about $45. Geez. Then we
had to find an overhead projector to get the images on the wall - no luck
borrowing or even renting one. So, we settled on buying one on the
credit planning to return it within 30 days for a full refund. Truth
is we have enjoyed the projector so much I think we will keep it!

We used the overhead
projector to get the images up on the wall then traced them with pencil.
Step two, as seen in this photo, was to paint the basic color of the character
onto the wall. Final step (and most nerve racking) was using black
paint pens to outline the characters and 'bring them to life.' I
hung the transparency next to the pictures as a reference while I painted
them

The South wall
uses the One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish theme. Turned out
pretty well. You can see the transparency used to create this wall
in the picture above. The fish didn't end up in exactly the same
place as in the book, we just moved the projector around until the fish
were where we wanted them.
